ATP Telecommunication Services, LLC Customer “Guidelines”

Inside Wire & Jacks

Inside wire includes the telephone wire within your home or business and the wire that runs around the outside of your home or business to the point where it connects to the telephone company line usually at the NID; Network Interface Device.

The Inside Wire & Jacks At Your Home Or Business

Federal deregulation of inside wire and jacks requires customers to assume responsibility for the installation and repair of all wiring and jacks inside their homes or businesses.

As A Customer You May:

  • Hire your telephone company to make repairs on a time and material basis.
  • Hire an independent contractor to make repairs.
  • Make all repairs yourself.

Installing & Maintaining Your Own Inside Wire-Residence & Simple/Single Line Business

Every customer has the option of installing and or repairing their inside wiring and jacks or having the Telephone company or telephone wiring contractor complete the work. In compliance with FCC rulings, effective January 1, 1987, inside wiring was deregulated. This means that you are responsible for maintenance and installation of the telephone wiring, jacks, telephones and equipment inside your home or business. Whether you choose ATP Telecommunication Services, LLC, or a local telephone company to work on your inside lines or prove a telephone or equipment problem applicable charges will apply on a time and material basis for any work done. NOTE: ATP covers areas from Sarasota, Nokomos, Venice, North Port, Englewood, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda.

If You Call ATP For Service, We Suggest That You Try These Easy Tests First:

  • Check all the telephones in your home to determine if the same problem exists on all telephones. If the trouble is not in all of the telephones, then there is most likely a problem with a single telephone and/or jack.
  • If the problem still exists in all of the telephones, you need to determine if the trouble is in your inside wire and/or your jacks. You can do this by making a check from the Telephone Network Interface Device located at your premises, usually on the outside of your residence or business by the power meter. This device (NID) is where the inside wire connects to the telephone company’s lines and is modularized to allow you to plug your telephone into it. You then can prove if your trouble is either on the inside or outside line or in your telephones.
ATP Telecommunication Services Does Not Repair Telephones Owned By The Customer

If your telephone company proves trouble into your inside wiring, jacks, telephone or equipment and you subscribe to their wire maintenance program, the will make repairs at no charge, unless it is in your telephone or equipment and they will charge a basic rate. Your local telephone company usually offers, at a monthly charge a wire maintenance program and can be upgraded (for an extra charge) to include phones and equipment with the exception of alarms and floods. If it is your phone or equipment, you are advised of that, but it is your responsibility to get it repaired or replaced and will not be charged if you subscribe to their “Guardian” wire and equipment program monthly. An exception

to this is if the problem is in your fire (smoke) alarm or if your house is flooded or damaged by fire. The tariffs can explain all of this in further detail. If the customer is not on a maintenance program subscriber, the trouble location charge will be applied by your local telephone company. Then, more charges may apply on a time and material basis, if the telephone company repairs the line trouble at the subscribers request. Charges will apply to the customer by their local telephone company if it is a bad telephone set or equipment, which usually has to be replaced by you. You may want to contact ATP Telecommunication Services, LLC or even before you call your local telephone company, especially if you have no maintenance contract for advise
